Install Your Chatbot on WordPress

Two easy ways to go live — the plugin (recommended) or a copy-paste snippet — plus fixes for every common problem.

Recommended

Option 1 — the plugin

No code at all. Everything happens inside your WordPress admin.

1

Download the plugin

In your Chatbot Boss dashboard, open your chatbot and go to the Install tab, then click Download WordPress plugin. You get one small zip file.

2

Upload it to WordPress

In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the zip file and click Install Now, then Activate.

3

Paste your Chatbot ID

Go to Settings → Chatbot Boss. Copy the Chatbot ID from the Install tab in your dashboard and paste it in.

4

Paste your Installation Key

Copy the Installation Key from the same Install tab and paste it in. It stays on your site so our team can confirm the install belongs to you.

5

Save and you're live

Click Save changes. The status line turns to “Live on your website” and the chat bubble appears on every page. No theme files are changed.

The plugin download is in your dashboard once you create your first chatbot.

Option 2 — copy and paste

Works on any WordPress site, even where you can't install plugins.

1

Copy your code

Open your chatbot's Install tab and copy the code snippet. Replace YOUR_CHATBOT_ID below with yours.

2

Open the code box

In WordPress, install the free “WPCode” plugin (or use your theme's custom code area), then create a new snippet that runs in the site footer on every page.

3

Paste and activate

Paste the code, set the snippet type to HTML, and activate it. The chat bubble appears on your site straight away.

Your install code
<script async
  src="https://chatbot-boss-ai.lovable.app/widget.js"
  data-bot-id="YOUR_CHATBOT_ID">
</script>
Fixes

Troubleshooting

The problems people actually hit, and how to fix each one in under a minute.

The chat bubble is not showing

Open Settings → Chatbot Boss and check three things: the Chatbot ID is filled in, “Enabled on the website” is ticked, and the status line says “Live on your website”. Then clear your cache (see below).

I use a caching plugin

After saving, clear your site's cache (WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, W3 Total Cache and similar all have a “Clear cache” button) and any Cloudflare or host cache, then reload your site in a private window.

The bubble shows but doesn't answer

Open the chatbot's Test tab in your Chatbot Boss dashboard. If it answers there, your install is fine — check the chatbot is not paused and that you have monthly AI replies left on the Billing page.

The chatbot answers in the wrong language

Your chatbot replies in whatever language the visitor uses, automatically. If you prefer one fixed voice or language, open the chatbot's Voice tab in the dashboard.

How do I turn the chatbot off temporarily?

Go to Settings → Chatbot Boss, untick “Enabled on the website” and save. Nothing is deleted — tick it again to bring the bubble back.

How do I remove it completely?

In WordPress, go to Plugins, deactivate Chatbot Boss, then delete it. All its settings are removed from your site automatically.

Does it work with my theme or page builder?

Yes. The plugin adds the chatbot without touching your theme, so it works with Elementor, Divi, Gutenberg and common business themes, and survives theme updates.

My dashboard says the AI reply limit was reached

The bubble still opens and collects visitor details, but replies pause until your allowance renews. Upgrade your plan on the Billing page to raise the limit.

All good?

Once the bubble appears, ask it a question from your site and watch the conversation arrive in your dashboard.
